THE mild south east breeze and bright sunshine in the Nation’s capital will play host to the 87 Professionals and 19 amateurs who will be participating in the SP Brewery PNG Open golf tournament at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club (PNGRGC) starting tomorrow.
A lucrative championship prize money of Australian $142, 000 (K347, 783) is up for grab which is good enough purse for the winner to take home.
The defending champion, Brad Moules will be up against some of the finest marquee players on the field in Daniel Fox (2015 Western Australia champion), Damien Jordan (2017 Victorian PNG champion) and Chris Wood, the recent Morobe Open champion.
Other competitors include one each from Japan, Fiji and England and the rest of the field is from Australia and New Zealand.
The race will also include two local Papua New Guinea Professionals, Nelson Gabriel and Brian Taikiri and 17 local PNG amateurs who will be competing.
Both Gabriel and Taikiri have reserved a list experience buckled on their belts and are expected to push their luck against the top weights.
