Liquor ban in Port Moresby for polling

The Port Moresby City  Commission has announced a liquor ban for polling in the nation's capital.
The liquor ban comes into effect on Monday 26 and ends on Tuesday 27th June which is next week.
N C D C in a public notice taken out in the dailies, said this action is taken to prevent irresponsible behaviour by drunks who may disrupt the smooth running of the polls.
The ban affects store keepers, bottle shops, dealers, taverns and public bars in both public and limited hotels.
Those allowed to operate are licensed premises like the clubs and will be restricted to their members only, restaurants and publicans and limited hotels restricted to their lodgers and guests.
Normal trading will commence on Wednesday 28th June, 2017.
Surveillance will be conducted during this period to ensure compliance and those that defy the ban will be dealt with under the NCD Liquor laws.
NCD will go for one-day polls on June 27th. NBC News
