PNGFA preparing for FIFA World Cup trophy visit

Preparations are already underway by the PNG Football Association to receive the FIFA World Cup trophy which will touch down in Port Moresby in February of next year.

The original trophy, which is usually kept at the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich, will visit more than 50 countries on six continents.

It will arrive in the nation’s capital on February 1.

PNGFA Vice President, John Wesley Gonjuan said the trophy will overnight and leave PNG shores the next morning at 5am.

He added the reception for the trophy will be exclusive with only about 120 people to be present at the event.

He finished by saying more details of the historic visit will be released in the coming days.
