Among the 26 declared seats are hot seats Ialibu-Pangia Open, Bulolo Open and Kavieng Open.
Prime Minister and Member-elect for Ialibu-Pangia, Peter O’Neill, was declared on July 15 while PANGU Party leader Sam Basil was declared as the Member-elect for Bulolo Open the next day.
The political party with the highest number of members declared so far is People’s National Congress (PNC) Party with 10 followed by PANGU Party (5) and National Alliance (4).
Parties with only 1 member declared are Melanesian Liberal Party, United Resource Party, Christian Democratic Party, People’s Progress Party and Coalition for Reform.
Independent candidates declared are Member elect for Koroba Kopiago, Petrus Thomas and Member elect for Komo-Margarima, Manasseh Makiba.
Tari-Pori Member elect James Marape of PNC was the first to be declared on July 9.
Latest declarations include NA candidates Ian Ling-Stuckey for Kavieng Open and Joe Sungi for Nuku Open, Member-elect for Kompiam-Ambum Open and PNC candidate John Pundari, and People’s Progress Party candidate Emil Tammur for Kokopo Open.
