In preparation for APEC 2018, the RPNGC Traffic Directorate is carrying out training and practice sessions with regard to motorcade escorts for VIPs and delegates throughout Port Moresby city.
This morning saw the 4th batch of officer’s graduate from successfully completing trainings and practice sessions with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police.
Director for Traffic, Joe Joseph said so far, traffic have graduated more than 30 men and this points out goals that we have intended to achieve.
“With the new skills and the new motorcycles, it given the officers an upper hand when it comes to motorcade escorts and we are prepared.”
As the commissioner for police has indicated, the RPNGC must be ready and prepared to provide that safety and security.
“As for us the traffics, we are tasked to ensure that we provide that motorcade to the level that is required for world leaders.
The officers have been upskilled with the help and partnership of the Australian Federal Police in ensuring that we achieve the intention of the government.
The trainings and practice secessions are necessary to ensure police operability is efficiently implemented throughout the duration of the APEC 2018 meetings.
He said there will be more training and practice sessions to come after these and this will continue up to next year when PNG hosts APEC.
