Serious allegations have come to the fore about a provisional election candidate of the National Federation Party.

A woman, who worked for former top Police officer Romanu Tikotikoca when he was the High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, has alleged Mr Tikotikoca raped her.

She has further alleged that he paid her 45,000 Kina (FJ$28,900) to avoid a police complaint against him and as compensation to the woman’s husband.

The incident is alleged to have happened at Mr Tikotikoca’s Chester Street, Port Moresby, PNG, residence in 2014.

In a statutory decleration, which was obtained by the Fiji Sun, she alleged that he started sexually harassing her in June and went on to rape her in August.

She also alleged Mr Tikotikoca made the payments in 5000 kina installments in front of a Catholic Church in Port Moresby.

She revealed alleged details including the clothes she was wearing at the time of the incident. The details are too graphic to publish.

Mr Tikotikoca is understood to be in Ovalau.

Fiji Sun sent a team to Lovoni Village on Sunday where we were told that Mr Tikotikoca would speak to us on Monday.

On Monday, villagers informed us that he was no longer in the village. Efforts to contact him were unsuccessful.

NFP leader Biman Prasad said they were yet to communicate with Mr Tikotikoca. Mr Prasad said he was waiting for Mr Tikotikoca to reach Suva and call him.

He said after speaking to Mr Tikotikoca, the political party will release a statement.

In a statutory declaration signed by the woman on February 23, 2015, witnessed by the then Fijian High Commission first secretary in PNG, Vilitati Mataitini, the woman detailed the amount she received and agreed that she will not demand any further money from Mr Tikotikoca.
