Kokopo open candidate and former East New Britain Provincial Administrator Akuila Tubal said it is a pity some people have to go that far down to spread rumors that he died earlier this week.

Mr Tubal said people have run out of ideas and tactics to use and are now into spreading rumors that he died.

He claimed the identity of the man who has been calling certain polling venues spreading lies of his death is known and his details have already been forwarded to the police to investigate and deal with him.

The news of the death of Mr Tubal was on the social media and spread throughout the Kokopo open electorate.

He said this is going too far and candidates or supporters have gone this far to lure votes.

He said there are better tactics to use and assuming death of another person is not acceptable and hope that such behavior should not be repeated in the future elections.

Mr Tubal said 2017 elections has seen a lot of candidates vying for the seat, and the trend of campaigning has come with a lot of personal attacks on candidates.

Mr Tubal a respectable man in Karavia ward within the Kokopo/Vunamami LLG was given the respect and the privilege to cast his vote yesterday morning before the other voters joined in.
