Lae MP John Rosso and Lufa MP Moriape Kavori have now joined Pangu Pati, bringing the total number to 12 MPs who sided with the Government.
The two MPs, Mr Rosso an Independent and Mr Kavori of THE Party, formalised the arrangements and made the announcement with Pangu Pati Leader Sam Basil and deputy leader and Goilala MP William Samb.
Mr Rosso said he ran as an independent candidate and accompanied the party to join the government.
“I have made my position of the fact that Lae is bigger than me and I have to do the right thing by the people of Lae and after contemplating that I would like to join Sam Basil in Pangu,” Mr Rosso said.
Lufa MP Mr Kavori said he went into the election under Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party and decided to change parties due to the dynamics of national politics and in the interest of the people of Lufa.
He thanked former Kandep MP Don Polye for his support during the election and the THE Party team.
Mr Moriape said his main campaign agendas were for quality leadership in Lufa and for the provision of much needed services and development that have been missing.
“I have been a businessman since my youth and I have enough, at the village level to live comfortably. I however, stood for 2017 National Election on the promise to ensure that the people’s money is spent transparently and meaningfully for the benefit of all Lufians,” Mr Kavori said.
He said since 2012, preliminary records reveal that a total of over K45 million was spent in Lufa District. He said that the money must have been spent in a different Lufa and he said he is eager to hear the remaining balance. He said a full audit for the district account will be instigated.
“I have weighed my choices and made this decision for the best interest of my constituents. I have 5 years to deliver my dream for the district and will not sacrifice my people’s interest on politics. I want to work and I believe my decision to join the Pangu team will support the development goals I have for the district,” said Kavori.
He appealed to the people of Lufa to respect his decision and work in partnership with his office to deliver tangible developments and services to the District.
