Thorny issues relating to vagrancy and land grabbing were some of the issued highlighted by Southern region Governors after returning from  a conference they held to discuss mutual issues in Alotau, Milne Bay Province.

Specifically were the land grabbing issues associated with Port Moresby city, the influx of outsiders and the anticipated increased volume of travelers with the opening of the trans-highlands highway.

On arrival in Port Moresby yesterday the Governors were sensitive to the issues and vagrancy’s constitutional implications, but said there were ways which could be used to protect the interests of their people.
