The Lae Christian school of tomorrow (LCST) operated by the Bible Church has teamed up with Markham Culverts Limited and the governor of Morobe Province to give an early Christmas present for the destitute youth of the province with a ground-breaking ceremony signifying commence construction of a new four in one double storey classroom for semi-literates and illiterates youths.

The classroom is jointly funded by the Lae Christian school of Tomorrow and Exodus project management (EPM) at a total cost of K300,000. Markham Culvert Ltd has donated building materials (steels) with an additional donation of K15,000.

LCST has contributed K150, 000, half of the total coast as counterpart fund which EPM has committed under a memorandum of agreement (MoA).

The Classroom will be used for two years by the students and teachers of Stretim Youth Stretim PNG using the accelerated Christian education curriculum, and after that the Lae Christian school of Tomorrow will take full occupation when SYSPNG move to its new site college campus in Lae.

General manger of Markham Culverts, Ron Lane said the SYSPNG school was an unusual initiative of EPM CEO, Noah Ariku to cater a learning center for semi and illustrates youth in Morobe Province.

Mr Lane said Markham Culverts additional contribution of K15,000 and the building materials is to support the program.

“This is my second visit to the school, lots of Markham Culverts employees live along this area, East Taraka and they live with families.

Believe this support can help some of the members attend this school,” Mr Lane said.

Meanwhile the Principal of LCST, Mek Glare said they have partner with Exodus project management for two years to implement SYSPNG.

“We have been allowing our LCST teachers to take classes for the youths under SYS PNG since 2016 as a community Service program,” Mr Glare said.

Noah Ariku thanked Mr Lane, LCTS and governor Saonu for their support towards the school.
