The final commander walk for Port Moresby based PNG’s Defense Force personnel for the year 2017 ended this morning in Port Moresby.

Starting at 6 am at Murray Barracks, PNG commander Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo and a host of about a hundred military persons walked toward Five Mile, onward to the Australian High Commission, up to City Hall and around to Hohola before ended the walk back at base.

There to join the walk were Australian Defense Force personnel and New Zealand attachés to the PNG DF.

The walk took roughly an hour and a half and citizens commuting to work could be seen cheering the walkers on.

Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo gave his final address after the walk at the officers mass were he talked about staying the course and ensuring that following codes of conduct were adhered to no matter how routine things were.

He said to always ensure that civilian peace was priority and that no men in the DF was too important to help those not within the ranks.

He ended by wishing all a vibrant festive season.
