A BangladeshI man is currently on the run in Port Moresby after he is alleged to have walked out of a local supermarket with about a quarter of a million kina last Wednesday.

Mohammad Sharif Hossain, a Bangladeshi national was employed by a local businessman to manage the KR Supermarket in Four-Mile in Port Moresby’s Northeast where he was reported to have stolen more than K250,000 from the company.

Police reports indicate that Hossain had also previously stolen money from the same company which he was currently employed under.

As a result of his previous violation of his work contract he was facing deportation as his employer had terminated his work contract, rendering his work visa invalid.

According to executive director of KR Enterprise Limited, Kalam Raham, Hossain was scheduled to be deported from the country last weekend.

However, upon learning of his imminent deportation, he took the money and ran away into hiding.

Hossain is in hiding somewhere in Port Moresby, on the run from his previous employer, police and the Immigration Department.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hossain is encouraged to contact their nearest police station to aid police in his capture.
