Runner-Up angler Mick Hauser show off his catch, mahimahi, weighing 12.2kg during the 11th annual Muddy’s Memorial Billfish shoot out in Lae, Morobe Province, last Saturday.

He also picked up the K2000 as prize money.

The event was a lead-up to the 2018 43rd National Game Fishing tournament that will be held on March 23.

However, it was Jason Clark’s catch, a 102kg blue marlin that could have won the title and the K20,600 prize money but fell short.

Clark was unfortunate this time in which the game fishing rules kept the title from him.

He was on board the Em Nau boat, caught and weighed the blue marlin but was disqualified on technical grounds, said Lae Game Fishing Club president Graeme Gangloff.

Clark’s disqualification allowed angler Mick Hauser from Team Drug Runner who caught a 12.2 kg mahi mahi win the second prize money of K2000.
