Papua New Guinea police have received the keys to 20 new motorcycles donated by Australia to help with security at the APEC summit in Port Moresby in November.

The Australian Federal Police has donated the bikes and seven escort vehicles.

PNG's Deputy Police Commissioner Jim Andrews thanked the Australian police for helping drive a "wave of change" across the constabulary.

He challenged the local officers to be "good stewards of the assets during APEC and beyond."
