Rabaul district’s TFF scheme putting uni students first

RABAUL district’s tertiary tuition fee scheme this year will prioritise students attending universities.
Committee chairman Ivan Tagai said they were still awaiting funding from the Government to the district but they would first support students attending universities.
Around 200 parents were briefed about the funding situation during a recent meeting at the Malaguna Technical Secondary School.
He said the funding assistance for this year was yet to be confirmed but would be nowhere near the K1.3 million paid last year.
Tagai said last year, the district was able to assist students attending universities, colleges, private schools and TVET institutions.
“This will not be the case this year and I sympathise with parents as many students will miss out on the assistance from the district. We hope some funding is forthcoming from the government,” he said.
